This website/blog just passed its first birthday, and to celebrate we feel it is time to spruce it up a little bit. So we are now announcing a contest to replace the header image at the top of the site. The existing image, of a Tech Trolley car crossing the old fifth street bridge into Tech Square is great in many ways, but it is a little outdated.
Think you can do better? Email me with your submissions before September 15th (subject: “ITE Photo Competition”). I will put my five or six favorites up on the site for a general vote.
Things I am looking for (in order of importance):
- Unmistakable Tech imagery (Tech Trolley, Tech Tower, Ramblin’ Wreck, etc.)
- Inclusion of transportation modes, with cooler modes desired (vintage steel road bikes > fixies > cruisers > huffies, transit > cars)
- High resolution file, hyper-landscape composition. The current image is 1102 × 350 pixels, and submissions close to this will be preferred.
The contest is open to dues-paying members of ITE@GT and their significant others (if your boyfriend is a professional photographer, we don’t want to miss his talent). The only prize is notoriety (as if you need more). Contact me for more information.
Well I’m tempted to submit a photo with a car included, as I’m offended by your suggestion that cars are not “cool” modes of transportation…
Cars?? Well they’re the beez-knees!
I’ve seen a Fisker Karma (http://onward.fiskerautomotive.com/en-us/karma/overview/) around campus recently. That, I’ll admit, is an undeniably cool car. And the Ramblin’ Wreck has to be one of the coolest cars ever built. If you bring me a better picture with cars than anyone else brings me of transit passengers and their ilk, you will win. But a picture of a cyclist would beat a picture of a normal car, ceteris paribus.
I’m more offended that you’d imply my vintage, steel road bike is less cool because it’s a Huffy. You can’t have it both ways, Greg.
