Eating in Atlanta

Atlanta is ripe with restaurants to try out. Although there is not much selection immediately adjacent to campus, there are still plenty of options when eating off campus.

On Campus / Walkable from Mason Building

Food Trucks – Tech Green typically has a number of food trucks open during classes.

Rising Roll and Twisted Taco – Close to SEB and Mason is the Exhibition Hall with two food options.

Tech Square

Moe’s – southwestern burrito chain restaurant which started in Atlanta. Go on Monday for a good burrito deal.

Tin Drum – East Asian noodles and rice dishes.

Atwoods Pizza – Right at the Biltmore building next to Tech Square. Try a pizza with a spicy honey drizzle!

Ray’s NY Pizza – Pizza and Mediterranean dishes,  Wednesday trivia nights.

There on Fifth – Solid burger and more right at Tech Square.

Coda Building Food Hall – Check out all of the yummy options at the Coda Building including tacos, sushi, and Mediterranean.

Home Park

Rocky Mountain Pizza Company – only restaurant near campus that one could call a “college bar”. Pizza and wings and plenty of TVs with a collegiate atmosphere. Right off the northwest corner of campus.

Antico Pizza Napoletana– Named the “best pizza in America” in a pizza competition in Italy, the food lives up to the title. Eat on large tables in the kitchen itself!

West Midtown

Taqueria del Sol – Local chain of taco restaurants. Counter service with great fish tacos and guacamole

Food Terminal – Asian fusion on Marietta Street close to lots of off-campus student housing

Thumbs Up Diner – good for breakfast, lunch, or dinner – or breakfast anytime

La Fonda – Cuban and Spanish dishes. Get the queso and chips.

Midtown

The Varsity – an Atlanta institution (What’ll ya have?) located across the freeway from Bobby Dodd stadium. Chili dogs, slaw dogs, and chili slaw dogs. The frosted orange is good on a hot day.

The Vortex – famous for their burgers. Get your food with a side of tater tots. Coronary Bypass burgers are the real challenge.

Ponkos – On West Peachtree near the Midtown MARTA station. Amazing asain-fusion fried chicken. The kids meal is $5 for two tenders, a side, and drink.

Virginia Highland

Mellow Mushroom – Southern chain of gourmet pizzerias, whose original location was demolished to let Tech expand. Incredibly chewy crusts, with unique ingredients. Try the Caesar Salad pizza.
