Eating in Atlanta
Atlanta is ripe with restaurants to try out. Although there is not much selection immediately adjacent to campus, there are still plenty of options when eating off campus.

Zaya – Gyros, kebabs, and hummus joint in the student center. A little pricey, but very tasty.
Cafe Spice – Indian curries with a rice base
Le Petit Cafe – Not part of campus dining, but a hidden gem of a restaurant in the Petit Biotechnology Building. Great sandwiches, soups, and Caribbean pies.
Moe’s – southwestern burrito chain restaurant which started in Atlanta
Tin Drum – east Asian noodles and rice dishes
Ray’s NY Pizza – pizza and Mediterranean dishes, a favorite for our Wednesday trivia nights
Rocky Mountain Pizza Company – only restaurant near campus that one could call a “college bar”. Pizza and wings and plenty of TVs with a collegiate atmosphere. Right off the northwest corner of campus.
Antico Pizza Napoletana- Named the “best pizza in America” in a pizza competition in Italy, the food lives up to the title. Eat on large tables in the kitchen itself!
Carver’s Country Kitchen – great southern cooking open only for lunch M-F. Fried chicken, pot roast, collard greens, mac-n-cheese, and Coca-Cola cake. Don’t forget the sweet tea.
Taqueria del Sol – local chain of taco restaurants. Counter service with great fish tacos and guacamole
Burger Joe’s – burgers and fries, right off the southwest part of campus
Thumbs Up Diner – good for breakfast, lunch, or dinner – or breakfast anytime
Spoon – excellent Thai cuisine in a beautiful restaurant
The Varsity – an Atlanta institution (What’ll ya have?) located across the freeway from Bobby Dodd stadium. Chili dogs, slaw dogs, and chili slaw dogs. The frosted orange is good on a hot day.
Einstein’s (not the bagel place)- I really enjoy brunch there, and their menu changes seasonally. They always have the salt and pepper calamari which is delicious.
EscorpiÛn-The margaritas are delicious and so are the pork tamales. Tilapia tacos– yum! And the restaurant deco is so unique, which makes for a great atmosphere.
Front Page News- New Orleans-inspired bar and restaurant. Great burgers, and the fried shrimp po’boy is a must. Lots of screens with sports, if that’s your thing.
The Vortex – famous for their burgers. Get your food with a side of tater tots. Coronary Bypass burgers are the real challenge.
Cafe 640, between Ponce De Leon and North Avenues on Highland Ave. Their food is incredible and reasonably priced. I’d call it a nice restaurant but yet it doesn’t have very high prices. It has a covered outdoor seating area, and inside it has a bar and dense seating arrangement. I enjoy walking in there. I love to get the truffled mac n’ cheese as my side!
Mellow Mushroom- Southern chain of gourmet pizzerias, whose original location was demolished to let Tech expand. Incredibly chewy crusts, with unique ingredients. Try the Caesar Salad pizza.
