October Monthly Meeting and Events


GAITE Social at Ormsbys (Wednesday, October 19th – 6:30 PM – Ormsby’s in West Midtown)

  • ITE@GT and the Georgia Section of ITE are having our annual joint-social at Ormsby’s in West Midtown. We will have free appetizers and members will have the opportunity to play games and network with Georgia ITE professionals! This event is limited to ITE@GT members 21+ (Ormsbys only allows people over 21 after 6:00PM).

  • Jack will drive the van and anyone who wants to join over at 6:15 (meet at the van behind Mason at the loading dock)  and return around 8:00.

Team Buzz Volunteer Event (Saturday, October 22nd in the morning)

  • Join ITE for a day of gardening fun in Historic Oakland Cemetery, the oldest cemetery and one of the largest green spaces in Atlanta.

ITE Intramural Sports

  • If you’re interested in being on the ITE intramural sports team this Fall, get in touch with Ambar Johnson to sign up (it’s free!). We are close to deciding on a final sport – it’s currently a tie between soccer and volleyball – YOU could be the deciding vote!

  • ITE members and non-members are both invited to sign up.

Atlanta Streets Alive (Sunday, October 23rd in the afternoon)

  • Atlanta Streets Alive will take place over Peachtree Street from Edgewood to 17th Street

  • The event will kick off at 2:00 PM with a bicycle parade, and will continue till 6 p.m. We will have a meetup for the bicycle parade at 2:00 PM on the corner of 5th and Peachtree for anyone who would like to join!

  • Great opportunity to spend your day biking, skating, walking, rolling down the streets and taking part in this community event!

Student Planning World Town Planning Day (Wednesday, October 26th – Reception: 5:30-6:15 PM Panel: 6:30-8:00PM – Reinsch-Pierce Family Auditorium (Directions))

  • Each year the Georgia Tech Student Planning Association hosts a panel discussion, open to the public, surrounding a current planning event to celebrate World Town Planning Day (

  • This year, the panel discussion will focus on innovations in zoning for large cities and how these could be applied in Atlanta. The panel will discuss the state of zoning in Atlanta, where Atlanta is heading with its zoning code update, and lessons in land use policy that could be learned from other cities. We will hear perspectives from the City of Atlanta, global urban policy and design experts, and local developers.

Transportation Career and Professional Development Fair (Thursday, October 27th – 11:00 AM-4:00 PM)

  • Get ready to network at the first ever transportation-specific career fair for the Civil Engineering department! Be sure to bring copies of your resume to the event and dress professionally!

  • The fair will begin with a lunch-panel of company/agency representatives providing a brief overview of their company and giving career and professional development advice. After lunch, representatives will network with students in the transportation building lobby (SEB) for the afternoon.

  • Where and When: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM in Mason 1133 (Lunch Panel), 12:00 PM-4:00 PM in SEB Lobby (Career Fair)
